hOW YOUR SUPPORT HELPS CHILDREN

For the past 8 years we have sponsored children to attend local fee-paying (non-government) schools. This means that the class sizes are capped, teachers are specialised, the school has access to appropriate resources to enhance learning and, importantly, lessons are taught in English. This is important because government primary schools are taught in Swahili, yet secondary schools are taught in English, so without having a sound grasp of English language, success in secondary education is limited.

For some of the children we support, boarding school is essential to enable their education. This is because their family or guardians are unable to support them at home, or the distance to school is simply to great to be travelled everyday.

For other children, access to a government secondary school is possible, and in this case sponsorship fees are used to support families or guardians with the cost of uniforms/clothing, food, transport or learning resources.

We work with each child individually to support their specific circumstances in the best way for their education.
